Top 10 Wedding Reception Venues in Winnipeg

The Fort Garry, located at the corner of Fort and Garry street downtown, is probably Winnipeg’s most active location for wedding ceremonies and receptions. They offer 5 ballrooms on various floors, as well as its close proximity to photography locations such as The Forks and the Exchange District. There is also a great park in the back near the river for photos and of course the inside of the hotel offers a fantastic backdrop.

Located 10 minutes west of Winnipeg, Bridges Golf Course is one of the more popular locations for a wedding ceremony and reception. I’m there often and it’s always a great place to photograph at. It offers lots of greenery, some woodsy areas and of course their famous bridges spanning over the La Salle River, which runs through the property. There are also plenty of farmers fields in the area as well which can provide some great photo opportunities during the right season.

The Fairmont Hotel is at center of Winnipeg, located at Portage and Main. This 5 star hotel offers an exceptional atmosphere for wedding receptions and ceremonies. There are two ballrooms – one on the main floor and one larger one upstairs. It’s also close to many indoor wedding photography locations located in the Exchange District, as well as some outdoor parks.

Fort Gibraltar is a truly unique location in Winnipeg for holding a wedding ceremony or wedding reception. If you’re a naturist or have a rustic theme, this place is perfect. It’s an original fort built in 1809 by the North West company and is now used as a tourism location and gathering place for the city. There are fantastic outdoor locations for wedding photos right on the grounds as well as the unique fort walls which provide an exceptional backdrop for family photos.

Four Points Sheraton south offers a very modern feel for your wedding ceremony or reception. It’s an incredible place to get married and has some of the best food in the city! It’s where I got married and we loved every aspect of it. There are some photography locations nearby such as Kings Park or the St. Norbert ruins. Their ballroom can hold around 200 people and they offer ample parking.

The Inn at the Forks is located in the heart of The Forks near the Exchange District. They offer wedding ceremonies as well as receptions in their ballroom on the 2nd floor. There are a lot of nearby locations for photos such as The Forks itself, St Boniface Cathedral, Smith Restaurant and the Human Rights Museum. They offer a few large rooms for getting ready and great food as well. If your guest list is under 180, this place could be a great fit!

The Southwood Golf and Country Club offers a very modern feel for your wedding ceremony or reception. Ceremonies are generally held outdoors in the back on the grounds, photos are also allowed on the grounds, sunset photos here can be breathtaking. There are also some photography locations nearby such as Kings Park or the St. Norbert ruins. Their ballroom can hold around 160 people and they offer ample parking.

St Boniface Golf Course is a fairly popular location for wedding ceremonies and receptions. They generally do ceremonies outside on the grounds. For receptions, they offer a very large ballroom with high ceilings overlooking the golf course. They have many photo locations on the grounds and for photos the couple is given golf carts to travel to and from these locations. 

The Metropolitan is a rare and unique location in Winnipeg to hold your wedding. It has been redesigned out of an old theatre and has a very retro or vintage vibe to it. Located in the heart of downtown and with many hotels just a skywalk away, it’s a great option for couples that want a ritzy feel to their wedding.

I have been to many weddings at the Viscount from large to small and everytime I am impressed with the layout, meals and atmosphere the hotel provides. The lobby and ballroom are newly renovated with a modern feel and the ballroom has a very respectable capacity to accommodate pretty much any wedding.

The Victoria Inn has one of the largest banquet/ballrooms in Winnipeg (2nd to the convention center). The atmosphere and service is always fantastic and they have 3 ballrooms to choose from. All 3 have high ceilings and various capacities. The hotel has also undergone many renovations to modernize the feel of the building.

This is a very unique location. The rustic wedding barn is just outside the city in Steinbach, but deserves to be on this list for its uniqueness. The property has several rustic country feeling buildings, including the main barn which has a beautifully lit 2nd floor for most receptions (it’s seriously trippy walking around under all the twinkly lights). The venue also has a 2nd room below for stand up receptions and ceremonies. Very unique and always a fun time to attend a wedding at the barn.
